As a North Shore Chicago family photographer, I arrived on a Saturday morning to capture a busy and memorable day for this sweet family. This photo session was packed with many exciting moments including day-in-the-life photos, a combined 40th and 1st birthday party, and a gender reveal.

Before guests arrived, I got to hang out with Ashley and her 1-year-old daughter, Sienna. Capturing these special moments between Ashley and Sienna was so much fun. Often moms are the ones behind the scenes taking photos, which makes it that much more special to have photos together.

There is beauty in the everyday moments. From when your little one wakes up from their morning nap to even diaper changes. These things happen every single day, but in the hustle of parenthood sometimes go unnoticed.

The saying, “The days are long, but the years are short,” is said all the time, but yet how often do we think and appreciate the everyday moments?

This is one of the many reasons why day-in-the-life sessions are so meaningful. Photos are a great way to remember how life was for that brief moment in time. Because when it comes to kids, changes are happening all the time ❤️

After Cory finished setting up a few last details for his 40th birthday, and Sienna’s 1st birthday, he joined us for some day-in-the-life photos.

The photos with Sienna and her brother, Carter, are so sweet. He was so patient when taking photos with her. What a good brother!

Cake smashes are one of my favorite moments to capture, and Sienna sure didn’t disappoint. She absolutely loved her cake!

After the cake smash, all of the guests gathered in the backyard once again to celebrate another special moment – the gender reveal.

Ashley, Cory, Sienna, and Carter all gathered around a balloon that Ashley popped to reveal the baby’s gender. Well…it didn’t exactly pop right away as planned, but eventually it did, and their reaction was priceless.

Ashley was so surprised that it was a boy. She had an intuition it was going to be a girl, which made her reaction even more special. She couldn’t stop smiling.
