As a Naperville wedding photographer, I enjoyed photographing this outdoorsy and fun couple. Jill and Mike love to be outdoors – whether it’s camping, biking, hiking, or kayaking. We wanted to reflect this in their photos, so we decided to do their engagement session at Herrick Lake in Naperville and the Morton Arboretum in Lisle.
On the day of the session it was 90 degrees. Who would’ve thought that a fall day in September would be that warm? I’m so grateful that Jill and Mike braved the heat. We were able to find some much needed shade underneath trees at the Morton Arboretum.
The Morton Arboretum has special significance for Jill and Mike since it is where they took their first picture together 🙂
Jill and Mike enjoy trying new craft beers and going to beer festivals together. They actually had their first date at Tribes so they brought along some beer glasses from there.
Jill and Mike rented a canoe at Herrick Lake, and it was fun capturing these two as they paddled together. With the sun reflecting off the water it was even warmer here. This couple was still all smiles though. It’s always great when you forget I’m there with my camera even if it’s just for a moment. The photo below is one of my favorites from this engagement session since it captures a genuine, intimate moment between these two.The photo below is another one of my favorites from this engagement session. We stumbled across this tree stump, and it was the perfect place for a photo of these two.
Jill and Mike, thanks so much for asking me to capture this special time in your lives. I’m looking forward to photographing your wedding at Emerson Creek next year.
