As a Naperville family photographer, I loved capturing The P Family at Graue Mill in Oak Brook.
I enjoy meeting up with this family for their photo session every year. They are such nice people, and have been my clients since I started Chelsey Joy Photography. They have also referred many of their friends and family to me over the years, who I have loved meeting as well.
Last year, I photographed the family in November, and it was cold the day of the session. This year we decided to schedule the session in September so that it would be a lot warmer and the kids wouldn’t get cold.
They are many great locations in the suburbs to take photos. Whenever I find a new location, I love to find out more about it.
This was my first time taking pictures at Graue Mill, which has a lot of interesting history. Frederick Graue purchased the sawmill back in 1849. During the 1900’s, it was used by Graue to hide runaway slaves who were on their way to Canada. Graue and his son ran the mill for 70 years until modern milling methods were developed, and the mill was abandoned. In 1950, the DuPage Graue Mill Corporation repaired the waterwheel and opened the museum.
The waterwheel provided an interesting and unique backdrop for this wonderful family’s photo session. We also took some photos on the historic house’s porch, which has been converted into a museum.
The photo above is one of my favorites from this session. I love how it captures a special moment between a father and son.
Rithi and Rehaan have such sweet personalities. I love the photo below of this brother and sister.
P Family, thanks for choosing me to be your photographer. I had so much fun photographing your family.
