As a Chicagoland wedding photographer, I had a great time with Nikki and Alex for their engagement session in the city.
We started the session at Lincoln Park Zoo’s South Pond. This is one of my favorite photo spots in Chicago, because it provides the perfect balance of a nature background with city views.
Nikki and Alex brought their dog Frankie, and I’m so glad they did. Frankie did such a good job. He guarded all of our stuff and never took his eyes off of Nikki and Alex during the session. We would all laugh every time we looked back at Frankie because his eyes were still locked on them.
I even got to take Frankie on a quick walk, and quickly got approached by people passing by. “What kind of dog is he? Is he a nice dog?” I got quite a few questions, and didn’t know how to answer them all (I just met Frankie 30 minutes ago), but the question about whether or not he was a nice dog was easy to answer. Frankie is the sweetest dog, and definitely made this engagement session that much more special and meaningful for Nikki and Alex.We walked from Lincoln Park Zoo to North Avenue Beach and arrived there at the perfect time: sunset. The sun reflected off the buildings and the water was a beautiful turquoise color. The photo below is one of my favorites from this city engagement session.
Nikki and Alex, thanks so much for asking me to capture this special time in your lives. I’m looking forward to photographing your wedding at Emerson Creek Pottery and Tea Room in July.
