This Arrington Vineyards proposal turned out perfectly for Madeline and Mac. It was drizzling on my way to Arrington Vineyards, but as soon as I parked my car the rain stopped. I took a golf cart up the hill and got set up and ready for Madeline and Mac’s arrival.
I laid out a blanket on the picnic table and carefully hid my camera equipment. As a surprise proposal photographer, it’s important to always blend into the surroundings. I never want to create suspicion or draw attention away from your moment.
Madeline and Mac met in 2019 through a mutual friend. It wasn’t until they were both back home in Alabama during COVID that they reconnected. When it came time to choose a date to propose, Mac new the perfect one – their four year dating anniversary.
Mac knew this date would also help his cover story. Coming up with an elaborate date might make Madeline suspicious, but with it being their anniversary he knew she would think it was a sweet gesture and not a proposal.
When they arrived, Mac was grateful it had been raining. He put on his rain jacket that had the ring box hidden in the pocket.
Madeline and Mac walked up the hill and through some trees. Mac stopped at the top with the rolling hills and vineyard behind them. He knelt down on one knee and asked Madeline to marry him.
After saying “yes,” and enjoying the moment together, Madeline and Mac got a bottle of Arrington Vineyards Riesling (my favorite), and sat down in the vineyard.
We walked around taking photos and afterwards Mac had another surprise for Madeline. Both of their families were waiting at a restaurant in Franklin to celebrate with them.
The first step in planning your Arrington Vineyards proposal is contacting the vineyard for a photo permit. The permit is $150 and you need to complete the application at least 48 hours in advance. Permits are available for time slots Monday through Thursday.
Since their anniversary was on a Saturday, I reached out to Arrington Vineyards. They were really nice and allowed us to take the photos on a Saturday evening instead.
During the summer and fall, Arrington Vineyards is very busy Friday-Sunday. If you want a more quiet day at the winery, I would recommend a Monday through Thursday date. For Mac’s proposal, we got lucky and the drizzle that day made the winery a lot less busy than a typical Saturday.
Planning a proposal can be nerve-racking, but don’t worry! We have lots of experience photographing proposals and know exactly how to help you plan the perfect proposal moment.
For Mac’s proposal, I chatted with him over the phone to go over all of the details and we even met at the winery for a walkthrough to go over the potential proposal spots together.
All of the planning ahead of time really helped everything go seamlessly the day of.
Arrington Vineyards is on my favorite locations for proposals. It has beautiful scenery and I love how it is surrounded by rolling hills.
Here’s what Mac had to say about his experience with us capturing his Arrington Vineyards proposal.
“Chelsey was fantastic! Super friendly, helpful and the pictures were great! Highly recommend.”
