I loved capturing Marina and Johnny’s maternity photography session in Murfreesboro TN. Sunflowers have special significance for them so a sunflower field was the perfect location for their maternity photos in Tennessee.

Growing up sunflowers always reminded Johnny of his great grandmother and were a symbol of positivity and happiness. Seeing his wife carrying their son is definitely one of those special moments in life that is also filled with positivity and happiness.

I had so much fun meeting up with Marina and Johnny for their maternity photography session in Murfreesboro. I’ve loved capturing their story from their wedding day to now when they are expecting their first child. It started drizzling a little bit during their session, but these two didn’t mind one bit. You can tell just how excited and happy they are to grow their family.

The last time I saw Marina and Johnny was back in 2021 for their wedding day at the Lincoln Farmstead. It was so special getting to see them and capture this new adventure in their lives together. We love being a life long photographer who can capture you at any stage in your life.

Their Meet Cute Story

Marina and Johnny met in an education class at the University of Dubuque. Their conversations rarely left the classroom, but Johnny knew right away how much he enjoyed talking to Marina. After arriving back home that summer, Johnny’s girlfriend at the time broke up with him via text. According to him, it was the best text ever. He messaged Marina on Instagram and here they are!

One of their Favorite Dates

These two have had many dates over the years, but one of the most memorable for them was a trip to the movies. Marina decided that they could save a little bit of money by bringing their own snacks. Johnny thought it was was a great idea and he brought candy and drinks. Marina was in charge of the popcorn.

Immediately after microwaving the popcorn, Marina put it in a ziplock bag. Seeing as it was plastic, the bag melted with the popcorn. Johnny said, “By far one of the funniest moments we’ve had together. Kind a ‘had to be there’ moment, but our relationship is full of those.”

How He Asked

Another great memory for Marina and Johnny was when he proposed on Super Bowl Sunday in 2020. Everyone was over at the house having a good time before the game. Johnny’s nephew was wearing a onesie that said, “Will you be my aunt officially?” Johnny explained that he added “officially,” because his family has always seen Marina as a part of their family.

Because Johnny didn’t want Marina to notice the onesie right away, he had his nephew wear a little sweatshirt. Marina’s mom was holding Johnny’s nephew and pretended to have a hard time taking off the sweatshirt. She asked Marina for help. When Marina bent down to help take off the hoody, she read the writing on the onesie. When she turned around, Johnny was down on one knee with the ring 💍

Johnny and Marina love spending time together whether it’s at home watching Netflix or working out together. They also have a mutual love of ice cream.

These two truly are each other’s best friend. Johnny love how Marina supports him and has his back through thick and thin. “She keeps me sane even through tough times. I have had many tough times throughout our relationship and she has been there to comfort me. I’m not sure where I’d be without her in my life.”
