Patrick and Marie originally planned to have a Bloomingdale Golf Club wedding reception, but due to COVID state mandates at the time they had to come up with an alternative plan for their wedding day.
Patrick and Marie were determined to make their special day happen. It didn’t matter how many backup plans they needed or how many times they had to replan their reception. They wanted to get married and knew no matter what that was going to happen.
I really admire these two for how positive they remained. Planning a wedding during a pandemic definitely isn’t easy. Couples like them truly inspire me. They really remind us what is most important on a wedding day.
Patrick and Marie enjoy walking around book stores, playing games together, and watching baseball games. They are both Yankees fans and love going to see a game when they come to Chicago to play the White Sox.
One of their favorite dates was when they went to Lake Geneva together. They walked around for hours talking, and window-shopping. These two love people watching and spending the day together.
As a couple, Patrick and Marie would describe themselves as musical, creative, nerdy, and usually found together 😊
When asked what she loves about Patrick, Marie said:
“I love his sense of humor, how kind he is to everyone, and how great he is at listening to me.”
Patrick said he loves Marie’s:
“enthusiasm for the things she likes, how caring she is, and her happy nature.”
Patrick asked Marie to come over to his house one Sunday afternoon. He insisted that they go to a local forest preserve, even though it was most likely flooded from storms the night before. On their walk there, Marie noticed Patrick being extra quiet and he seemed nervous.
They took a side trail to Marie’s favorite pond, and then stopped as close as they could get to the pond since from that point on the trail was under water.
Patrick asked Marie if she remembered the first time he took her there, and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. He knelt down in the mud and proposed. Marie was told that she apparently asked him if he was joking and then jumped on him 😅 Seconds later a random couple with their dog ran past yelling they needed to save a caterpillar. They walked back to the house and Marie’s parents were peeking out the front door waiting for them. Both of her sisters were also on their way for a big family dinner to celebrate!
Patrick and Marie said their vows in front of family and friends at St. Walter’s Catholic Church in Roselle. After the ceremony, they were surprised by guests driving by with signs and honking their horns to congratulate them.
Even though Patrick and Marie weren’t able to have their reception at Bloomingdale Golf Club like they originally planned, I love how we were still able to incorporate their venue in photos.
After photos at Bloomingdale Golf Club, we all headed over to the groom’s family home for an intimate backyard reception.
Patrick and Marie’s intimate wedding day was made even more special by their wonderful vendors. Florist: DLN Floral Creations | Catering: Bloomingdale Golf Club | Cake: Central Continental Bakery
Marie left this sweet review about her experience with Chelsey Joy Photography.
“Great quality of work, easy to work with her, and she made the day a lot easier by making a timeline with us and being very flexible with the evolving plans.”
