As a Hoffman Estates wedding photographer, I had so much fun hiking and exploring this state park with Juliana and Ryan. A bonus is that Matthiessen State Park in Oglesby is also where they got engaged. How cool is that?
Juliana and Ryan are planning a beautiful fall wedding at Emerson Creek next year. An engagement session is a great way to celebrate this special time, and since they both enjoy the outdoors and nature, Matthiessen State Park was the perfect choice.
I’ve been to Starved Rock State Park before (it is only a few miles down the road), but this was my first time at Matthiessen State Park. Since Illinois typically has a flat landscape, it’s always exciting to find locations with unique scenery. Matthiessen State Park has beautiful rock formations and a breathtaking waterfall that was the perfect backdrop for Juliana and Ryan’s engagement photos.
It makes engagement sessions even more fun when you bring your pets along. Juliana and Ryan brought their dog, Molly. I love the photo below of the three of them together.
During their engagement session, a couple passed by. The man was an officiant, and jokingly offered to marry Juliana and Ryan right then and there. Well, let’s just say the two giggled, and it was a perfect time to capture a fun, genuine moment between these two.
Juliana and Ryan, thanks so much for asking me to capture this special time in your lives.
