When Austin first told me about his plans to propose to Sydney at Cantigny Park in Wheaton, I was excited. As a Naperville proposal photographer, I enjoyed capturing this special moment for Austin and Sydney.
I always arrive a little bit early when I photograph a proposal. This turned out to be especially important on the day of Austin’s proposal. I arrived at the proposal spot in the rose gardens at Cantigny, set up, and was about to text Austin, when a large group appeared.
They gathered exactly where Austin had planned to propose to Sydney in the rose garden. I talked to one of the members of the group, and found out that a wedding rehearsal was scheduled for that time.
I chatted with the bride, and she was extremely sweet. She said Austin could still propose in the rose garden as planned.
After getting everything figured out, I texted Austin to let him know I was ready. He brought Sydney to the rose garden, and was walking around with her. I pretended to photograph the flowers so that Sydney wouldn’t catch on.
Austin and Sydney arrived at the center of the rose garden where the fountains are. Austin placed a little chalkboard on one of the labels for the roses.
He got down on one knee to propose, and you can definitely tell just how surprised Sydney was.
Austin and Sydney even got applause and cheers from the members of the wedding party that were rehearsing. It was such a sweet moment.
After the proposal, we went to different scenic spots at Cantigny for photos. Immediately following a proposal is a perfect moment for photos, because you are excited and in the moment. It makes the photos that much more meaningful.
Austin and Sydney, thanks for having me capture this special moment in your lives. Congratulations on your engagement!
